Digital Lock Maintenance Check List
POWER MANAGEMENT
- Replace batteries every 6–12 months (or when low-battery alert shows) – Use high-quality alkaline batteries (avoid rechargeable) – Keep a backup key or emergency power access method handy
CLEANING & PROTECTION
- Wipe lock with a soft, dry cloth (no harsh cleaners) – Do not spray water directly on the lock (especially when washing the house) – Check for dust, bugs, or grime around latch and keypad
DOOR HANDLING
- – Do not slam the door – protects alignment and internal parts – Ensure bolt is fully retracted before closing the door – Ensure bolt is fully retracted before opening the door – Check that door and lock are properly aligned
MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE
- – Apply silicone lubricant to keyholes/deadbolts if needed – Inspect for stiffness, rust, or visible wear
SMART LOCK USAGE
- Regularly update lock firmware (via app) – Update or delete PINs and user access as needed – Enable auto-lock feature (if available)
SAFETY & BACKUP
- Do not store spare keys inside the house – Use a lock box or keep keys on your key ring – Share access with someone trusted in case of lockout
